11 June 2012 – Unceremoniously dumped by my boyfriend of three and half years. Lots of introspection and ‘what next?’ thoughts ensue…

3 July 2012 – Start to seriously contemplate a big overseas adventure. Bookmark the AFS Volunteer Abroad website.

39 July 2012 – Email and phone Jason (AFS Sending Coordinator) for more details about Ecuador, Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico Volunteer Abroad programs.

9 July 2012 – Decide that I’m definitely going to do this!

11 July 2012 – Submit Part One of AFS application.

22 July 2012 – Have brief selection interview at the AFS Canberra monthly meeting.

6 August 2012 – Submit Part Two of AFS application.

11–13 August 2012 – Attend AFS ‘discovery camp’ in Heathcote, NSW.

21 August 2012 – AFS application allocated to Honduras.

11 September 2012 – Receive advice that I have been guaranteed a spot on the Semester Volunteer Abroad program to Honduras!!!

17 September 2012 – My leave without pay application is approved.

28 September 2012 – My AFS guarantee (information) pack arrives in the mail.

8 November 2012 – Start weekly Krav Maga lessons.

16 November 2012 – Book and pay for my flights.

20 December 2012 – My AFS travel pack arrives in the mail.

9 January 2013 – Receive my AFS Host Family information.

14 January 2013 – Receive my AFS Volunteer Placement Organisation details. (UNICEF)

6 February 2013 – Last day in the office.

10 February 2013 – Farewell drinks at my local pub.

13 February 2013 – Depart Australia for Honduras (via Chile and Mexico)

21 February 2013  – Arrive in Honduras and the adventure begins!

      Thanks Stu! I’m so excited that well get to explore Disney together. When I first said she should come, I was just joking so it’s crazy but good (crazy-good?) that she’s actually coming to Orlando. 🙂
